- COB LED Strip Light
A COB LED strip light produces an even line of light without the visible hotspots of conventional LED tape. Our COB range includes four product series. Each one is built for a different project priority, such as light output, compact installation, adjustable white light, or color effects.
Use this page to compare the series and find the right fit. Then go to the product page for full configurations.
What Is a COB LED Strip Light?
COB stands for chip-on-board. In a COB LED strip, a dense row of small LED chips is mounted directly on a flexible circuit board, then covered by a continuous phosphor coating. Because the chips sit so close together under one coating, the strip produces a smooth, uniform line of light instead of a series of visible bright points.
A conventional SMD LED strip uses separate LED packages spaced along the board. Without a deep diffuser or enough distance from the viewing surface, those packages can often appear as visible dots, hotspots, or reflections.
This difference becomes important in applications where the light source itself may be seen directly, or where the installation profile is shallow and leaves little space to blend the light.
For that reason, a flexible COB LED strip is often specified for architectural details, shelving, furniture, display lighting, and other installations where a clean, uninterrupted light line is part of the visual result.
Product Series Overview
Each series below links to a product page with configuration tables, controller notes, and ordering details.
High Efficacy COB LED Strip
For projects that put light output per watt first.
- Continuous, dot-free white light
- Designed around lighting efficiency for general and functional illumination
- Suited to longer installations where energy use matters
Ideal applications: Retail shelving, ceiling coves, commercial interiors, and linear general lighting
Ultra Narrow COB LED Strip Light
For slim channels and tight installation spaces.
- Reduced strip width for compact profiles and small fixtures
- Continuous light line in tight spaces where wider strips will not fit
- Supports discreet integration into furniture and display details
Ideal applications: Narrow aluminum channels, cabinet and furniture lighting, display cases, and fine architectural details
Tunable White COB LED Strip Light
For adjustable white light from warm to cool.
- Warm-white and cool-white channels in one strip, with selected models covering 2700 K or 3000 K to 6000 K
- CRI above 90 for the quoted white-light series
- 5 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm widths in 2-wire and 3-wire versions
Ideal applications: Hospitality, retail presentation, smart-home interiors, multi-purpose rooms, and human-centric lighting concepts with compatible controls
RGB and RGBW COB LED Strip Light
For continuous color effects without visible LED points.
- RGB, RGBW (4-in-1), and RGB plus warm/cool white (5-in-1) families
- 10 mm and 12 mm widths with DC 12 V or 24 V options, depending on configuration
- Multi-channel control for color, white, or combined lighting scenes
Ideal applications: Hotel and restaurant accents, bars and clubs, gaming rooms, media walls, signage, and entertainment venues
How to Choose the Right COB LED Strip
Start with the lighting effect the space needs. Then narrow the options by installation and system requirements.
White Light or Color
Decide whether the project needs fixed white light, adjustable white light, or color.
- Fixed white: High Efficacy or Ultra Narrow COB LED strip
- Adjustable white: Tunable White COB LED strip
- Color, or color plus white: RGB and RGBW COB LED strip light
Width Constraints
Check the internal width of the aluminum channel or fixture before choosing a series. If space is tight, a narrow COB LED strip may be the only workable option. Multi-channel strips, such as RGBW and RGB plus dual-white, are often wider because they carry more circuits.
Supply Voltage
COB strips are typically offered in DC 12 V or DC 24 V. 24 V systems generally support longer runs with less voltage drop, while 12 V may suit shorter runs or existing low-voltage systems. The strip, driver, and controller must all match the same voltage.
Efficacy vs. Color Flexibility
Each added color channel brings flexibility, but it also adds system complexity. If the main goal is efficient white illumination, a single-color white strip is usually the simpler choice. If the space needs scene changes or color effects, tunable white or RGBW strips are a better fit.
Control Requirements
Single-color strips usually need only a compatible dimmable driver. Tunable white and RGB/RGBW strips need a controller that matches the strip's channel count, wiring type, and control protocol. For example, 2-wire and 3-wire tunable white strips are not interchangeable.
Run Length
Long continuous runs may need power injection, amplifiers, or more than one driver. This helps keep brightness and color even along the strip. Confirm total run length and wattage per meter early, so the power layout can be planned correctly.
Quick Selection Guide
| Project Priority | Recommended Series |
|---|---|
| Efficient white light for general or functional lighting | High Efficacy COB LED Strip |
| Slim channels, compact fixtures, tight spaces | Ultra Narrow COB LED Strip Light |
| Adjustable warm-to-cool white light | Tunable White COB LED Strip Light |
| Color effects, or color plus white | RGB and RGBW COB LED Strip Light |
Typical Applications
A high density COB LED strip suits projects where a smooth light line matters. Common applications include:
- Retail: Shelving, display cases, and merchandise highlighting
- Hospitality: Hotel corridors, restaurant accents, bar backlighting, and guest rooms
- Ceiling coves: Indirect lighting with an even wash and no visible dots
- Furniture and cabinetry: Integrated lighting in shelves, wardrobes, and custom joinery
- Signage: Edge lighting and continuous light lines in signs and displays
- Narrow channels: Slim profiles in architectural details and compact fixtures
- Tunable white interiors: Offices, homes, and multi-purpose spaces that change white light through the day
- Color entertainment: Bars, clubs, gaming rooms, media walls, and event venues
Key Specification Factors to Confirm Before Ordering

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a COB LED strip and an SMD LED strip?
A COB LED strip places densely packed chips under a continuous phosphor coating, so it emits a uniform line of light.
An SMD LED strip uses separate LED packages spaced along the board. These can show as visible dots unless the strip is installed in a deeper channel or behind a diffuser.
Which COB LED strip is best for narrow channels?
The Ultra Narrow COB LED Strip Light is designed for slim profiles and tight spaces.
Always check the channel's internal width against the strip width of the selected model before ordering.
Can COB LED strip lights be dimmed?
Yes. COB LED strips can be dimmed when paired with a compatible driver or controller.
The dimming method depends on the series and the control system. Confirm the dimming protocol for the selected model before ordering.
Do RGBW COB LED strips need a special controller?
Yes. An RGBW COB LED strip light needs a 4-channel controller. An RGB plus warm/cool white strip needs a 5-channel controller.
The controller must also match the strip voltage, current load, and control protocol. Controllers are selected separately.
How do I choose between the four COB LED strip families?
Start with the light effect you need.
Choose High Efficacy for efficient white light and Ultra Narrow for tight spaces. Choose Tunable White for adjustable white light, and RGB/RGBW for color effects.
Then confirm width, voltage, run length, and control requirements.
