RGB and RGBW COB LED Strip Light

RGB and RGBW COB LED Strip Light

Smooth Color Effects without Visible LED Points

An RGBW COB LED strip light combines high chip density with multi-channel color control. The result is a continuous-looking line of colored light, so accents read as smooth color rather than a row of individual dots. It is designed for projects where the light line itself is part of the design, including:

  • Hospitality and entertainment venues
  • Retail displays
  • Gaming spaces
  • Signage
  • Architectural accents

This color changing COB strip is available in three families:

  • RGB
  • RGBW
  • RGB plus warm-white and cool-white channels

Each family has a defined LED density, strip width, supply voltage, and cut length. For projects that want an addressable-looking continuous light line, the choice comes down to how many color and white functions the space needs.

Color performance depends on the full system, not the strip alone. The strip, controller, and power supply must be specified together.

Color Series Overview

Configuration LED Density Width Voltage Power Cut Length
RGB 450/480 chips/m 10 mm DC 12/24 V 15 W/m 20/50 mm
RGB (high density) 810/840 chips/m 10 mm DC 12/24 V 15 W/m 11.11/25 mm
RGBW 896 chips/m, 4-in-1 12 mm DC 24 V 20 W/m 31.25 mm
RGB + warm/cool white 840 chips/m, 5-in-1 12 mm DC 24 V 25 W/m 41.66 mm
  • Available configurations: RGB, high-density RGB, RGBW, and RGB + tunable white
  • Voltage options: Selected models are available in DC 12 V, DC 24 V, or both, depending on configuration
  • Confirm the exact voltage, control method, and cut length for your selected color configuration before ordering.

Which Configuration Should You Choose?

Match the strip to the lighting functions your project needs first, then size the rest of the system around the selected configuration.

Option 01

Choose RGB

Select RGB for decorative color effects where a dedicated white channel is not required. This is typically the right choice for accent lighting, entertainment spaces, and applications focused mainly on color-changing visual impact.

Option 02

Choose RGBW

Select RGBW when the project needs both colored effects and a usable white-light channel. This configuration offers more practical everyday white lighting than standard RGB while still supporting dynamic color scenes.

Option 03

Choose RGB + Warm/Cool White

Select RGB plus warm/cool white, also referred to as an RGB CCT COB strip, when the project requires both color effects and adjustable white appearance. This is the most flexible option for spaces that need decorative color plus tunable white lighting behavior.

Then size the rest of the system

  • Controller: Select the controller based on channel count, voltage, current capacity, and control protocol.
  • Long runs: Confirm amplifier requirements and power injection points to maintain stable performance across the installation.

Controller Compatibility

Important: Controllers are not included with the strip and must be selected separately. The RGB, RGBW, and RGB plus dual-white versions use different channel counts, so a controller must match the selected configuration.

Confirm the following before ordering:
  • Channel count: 3 channels for RGB, 4 for RGBW, and 5 for RGB plus warm/cool white.
  • Voltage: It must match the strip, either DC 12 V or DC 24 V as listed in the table.
  • Current capacity: It must support the strip's rated power per meter across the total run length.
  • Control protocol: It must be compatible with your project's control system.
  • Power-supply capacity: It must be sized to the total load.
If any one of these items is mismatched, the RGB COB strip may not display colors correctly or may not operate.

Typical Applications

The RGBW COB LED strip light is suitable for:

  • Hotel and restaurant accents
  • Bars and clubs
  • Retail displays
  • Gaming rooms
  • Media walls
  • Signage
  • Entertainment venues
  • Ceiling coves
  • Custom furniture lighting

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between RGB and RGBW COB strip?

RGB mixes red, green, and blue channels to create colors.

RGBW adds a dedicated white channel, which improves white-light quality and gives the controller an additional channel.

What does 4-in-1 or 5-in-1 mean?

It describes multiple color channels integrated into the COB package.

The 4-in-1 version combines RGB and white. The 5-in-1 version combines RGB with warm-white and cool-white channels.

Is a controller included?

No. The controller is not included and must be selected separately.

Choose a compatible controller and power supply based on the strip voltage, channel count, and total load.
