Project Overview

A commercial site in Malaysia needed to upgrade the lighting on its existing 8–12 meter poles, right next to a busy shopping mall.

The site's large open plaza serves shoppers, visitors, and vehicles well into the evening. The owner wanted solar lighting without new poles, trenching, or grid connections, and without a long, complicated installation at height.

SIGO New Energy recommended the GSAAIO240W All-in-One Solar LED Street Light. The solar panel, LED light source, LiFePO4 battery, and smart controller are all built into one compact unit. Crews mounted each fixture directly onto the existing poles and turned the site into a fully solar-powered lighting system.

The Challenge: Upgrading Lights on Tall, Existing Poles

The site already had a network of poles between 8 and 12 meters tall. Replacing them would have added major cost, civil works, and disruption next to a busy mall. The practical choice was to keep the poles and replace only the light fixtures.

That approach brought its own requirements:

  • Fit the existing polesThe new light had to mount on the current poles without structural changes or extra hardware.
  • Install quickly and safely at heightWork at 8–12 meters needed as little time in the bucket truck as possible.
  • Run fully off-gridNo trenching and no new cabling to the grid next to an active shopping mall.
  • Handle the tropical climateThe fixture had to cope with Malaysia's heat, high humidity, and heavy rain.

A split solar street light would mean lifting a lamp head, a solar panel, and often a battery box, then wiring them together at height on every pole. The project needed a simpler solution.

The Solution: GSAAIO All-in-One Solar Street Light

The GSAAIO series combines power generation, energy storage, and lighting in one housing. There is no separate panel bracket, no external battery box, and no cable run along the pole. Each unit arrives pre-wired and ready to mount.

For 8–12 meter poles, we recommend two configurations, matched to the application. Click either image to view it in full size.

Key Features of the GSAAIO Series

  • All-in-one compact design: The panel, LEDs, battery, and controller share one housing, so there are fewer parts to ship, install, and maintain.
  • LiFePO4 battery: Lithium iron phosphate cells provide stable, long-life energy storage for reliable nightly operation.
  • IP66 protection: The sealed fixture resists dust, driving rain, and humidity.
  • Smart control: Automatic dusk-to-dawn operation and intelligent power management keep the light running without manual input.
  • Three output levels: 180W, 240W, and 300W models let you match lighting power to pole height and application.

Why Installation Height Matters

Mounting height shapes every part of a street lighting project. It affects how far the light spreads, how strong the output needs to be, and how much work happens high above the ground.

On this project, every fixture went up 8 to 12 meters. That made the installation method just as important as the light itself.

Split System vs. All-in-One at 8–12 Meters

Pole-to-pole consistencyCan vary with field wiring and panel positioningAssembled and tested as a complete system

One Lift, One Mounting Point

Each GSAAIO240W went up as a single unit and fixed in one position on the existing pole. Crews didn't need to install a separate panel bracket or battery box at the top.

No Wiring at Height

The fixture is wired at the factory. With no field connections between panel, battery, and lamp, a common source of delays and future faults on tall poles is gone.

Less Time in the Bucket Truck

Fewer parts and no on-site wiring meant shorter work time on each pole. Across a full site, that adds up to lower labor costs, less equipment rental, and less work-at-height risk.

A True Retrofit, With No New Poles

The all-in-one unit mounts directly onto standard poles, so the owner kept the existing 8–12 meter infrastructure. That avoided demolition, new foundations, and trenching beside an active mall.

Consistent Results From Pole to Pole

Each unit is assembled and tested as a complete system. Performance stays even across the whole site, without the variation that field assembly can bring.

The Result: Plaza Lighting the Owner Approved

With the GSAAIO240W installed on the 8–12 meter poles, the plaza next to the mall gained solar-powered lighting with no grid connection and no monthly electricity costs. The owner reviewed the lighting on site and found the brightness acceptable for the plaza setting.

For a commercial open space like this, the 240W model offers a good balance of coverage, output, and project cost. The retrofit also gave each pole a cleaner look, with no external panels, battery boxes, or exposed cables.

Choosing the Right Model for Your Pole Height and Application

This project shows why matching the model to the site matters. A plaza next to a mall has different lighting needs from a busy arterial road, even when the poles are the same height.

Application Typical Pole Height Recommended Model
Plazas, car parks, secondary roads, large public areas 8–12 m GSAAIO240W (4-module)
Used in this project
Arterial roads and main roads 8–12 m GSAAIO300W or a higher specification
Local streets and paths Shorter poles GSAAIO180W

Recommended mounting heights and pole spacing for each model are listed in the SIGOLED GSAAIO-STC-180-220-300W specification sheet. Our engineering team can also confirm the best configuration for your site.

Product Quality & Longevity

A solar street light is a long-term infrastructure asset. Every part of the GSAAIO series is built to deliver dependable performance with minimal maintenance.

LiFePO4 Battery Storage

Lithium iron phosphate chemistry is known for long cycle life and strong thermal stability. That makes it a safe choice for outdoor systems facing high temperatures and daily charge cycles, as in Malaysia's tropical climate.

IP66 Weatherproof Housing

The fully sealed fixture protects the battery, controller, and LED modules from dust, heavy rain, and humidity. It keeps working in tropical, coastal, and industrial environments.

Intelligent Controller

The built-in controller manages charging and discharging to protect the battery and extend its service life. It switches the light on at dusk and off at dawn, balancing brightness against stored energy through cloudy periods.

Optional Camera Integration

For sites that need security as well as lighting, SIGO offers an all-in-one solar LED street light with an integrated camera. It runs on the same solar power system, so a mall-side plaza like this one can add lighting and monitoring in a single installation.
