Tanzania Export Solar Lighting Certification Requirements
Overview
Exporting integrated solar street lights to Tanzania (Dar es Salaam Port) requires specific certifications and documentation. Below is a detailed list of required documents and applicable international standards for each component.
Required Documents
- Product Test Report (issued by CNAS or internationally accredited laboratory, in compliance with IEC or relevant standards)
- Certificate of Conformity (CoC – mandatory for export)
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Proforma Invoice
- Bill of Lading (B/L)
- Certificate of Origin (CO)
- Product Manual (must include technical specifications, especially 150W solar panel and 100Ah lithium battery)
- Copy of Manufacturer’s Business License
- MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet for lithium battery, required for dangerous goods transportation)
Applicable Component Certifications
Solar Panel (150W):
- IEC 61215: Crystalline silicon PV module design qualification and type approval
- IEC 61730: PV module safety certification
- CE Certification: Common compliance requirement for EU market
Lithium Battery (100Ah):
- UN38.3: Lithium battery transportation safety test certification
- MSDS: Material Safety Data Sheet
- IEC 62619: Safety standard for industrial lithium batteries
- CE / UL Certification (depending on market requirement)
LED Lamp Head:
- IEC 60598: Luminaires safety standard
- LM-79 / LM-80: Optical and lifetime performance test reports
- RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances compliance
Lighting Pole (Steel Structure):
- ISO 1461: Hot-dip galvanizing standard
- Structural Strength Test Report (wind resistance, seismic resistance)
Important Notes
- The CoC must be issued by an authorized inspection body (SGS, BV, Intertek) recognized by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), and it is mandatory for customs clearance.
- Lithium batteries must comply with UN38.3 and MSDS requirements, otherwise shipment may be rejected.
- It is recommended to prepare all documents at least 2-3 weeks before shipment to avoid delays.
