Kenya Billboard Retrofit – From Grid to Off-Grid Solar Power System
An advertising firm in Kenya operated a billboard LED signage system with 16 light-up letters, powered by grid electricity. The client sought a solar billboard lighting solution due to increasing energy costs, unstable power supply, and a desire for more economically viable and reliable options.
Our Response
To retrofit the billboard lighting from grid power to solar LED signage, we provided a 1KW off-grid solar system. Our solution consisted of monocrystalline solar panels, battery storage of LiFePO₄, and solar inverters. To keep all components secured and system safe, we placed the systems in an outdoor waterproof distribution cabinet. Solar security cages that can withstand the elements and deter theft were added for outdoor extra protection.
